In the latest roundup of ticketing and live events news from Australia and New Zealand, the first-ever census of New South Wales' live sector has provided feedback that the state government will use to facilitate future growth. Among the various findings, the research determined that live music provides 25,000 jobs across 795 live venues and 55 dedicated live music venues. It was also announced this past week that, after 18 years, Live Performance Australia CEO Evelyn Richardson will be stepping down at the end of December. Meanwhile, Perth's 14,000-seat RAC Arena, managed by ASM Global, inked a deal with Crown Perth to serve as its first integrated hotel and resort partner through 2027. Over in New Zealand, that country's music scene lost two great ones recently. Wiremu "Willie" Hona, singer and guitarist with reggae band Herbs, died of cancer, and jazz trombonist and composer Rodger Fox passed away at 71 of undisclosed causes.
