After beating the Boston Celtics in the first round of the NBA playoffs, the Philadelphia 76ers now face a New York Knicks team whose fanbase has a history of invading the Sixers' home arena. To avoid that, the Sixers have announced on their ticket-purchasing website that ticket sales will be restricted to fans with billing addresses in the "greater Philadelphia area." Those outside the zone will have their purchases canceled. This is not the first time an NBA team has taken such measures. Two years ago, the Sixers' ownership group purchased over 2,000 tickets during a first-round playoff series between the two teams to keep Knicks fans out of Xfinity Mobile Arena. Also, during the 2024 playoffs, the Detroit Pistons used geo-fencing to limit ticket sales to Michigan residents.
